Steel Rooms Exhibition Opens....
The opening of the steel Rooms Exhibition was above and beyond what I expected! It was nice to see most of the group there and it was so nice to see our tutors, old and new, come and have a look too. I had brought along my PA to put some background music on and to sing a few swing songs to give an atmosphere to the exhibition which I really think it needed, especially with it being our first exhibition as a group. The mayor arrived at 1:30 and gave a great speech and officially opened the exhibition and Patrick said a few words too which were very inspiring. The only downside to the day was that while my own family was there I was singing and didn't get much of a chance to be with them and go around the exhibition with them. I know that if this was my own exhibition I would probably be singing at that too! Looking at the guest book on the way out there was some really nice comments, not only about the exhibition, but about my own work too. I must admit that I'm not happy with having my own personal work on display, I had watched the dvd in the exhibition of my performances "Behind My Mask" and I was absolutely right , they just don't translate onto film. A big thing that I have learned from this is that I should have done some separate work for these exhibitions.

Steel Rooms Set Up.....
After picking up Monica and Rikki and their artwork from uni we arrived at the Steel Rooms to set up! The are is so big! after meeting everyone there we got straight to how we were going to display our work. After a little moving around of the huge moving walls we finally got there. Patrick was incredibly helpful in his suggestions. One of which was to create the gallery as if it had seprate walkways which turned out to work really well, it gives the visitor a chance to walk around the room rather than walk into it and see everything all at once. I really like this idea! I haven't seen this done before and I would really like to utilize this in my next exhibition! All in all a really enjoyable day, everyone got on really well and the teamwork was really good! I'm really enjoying being part of a group exhibition. OO and the pamphlets that Monica had done are brilliant!! A great idea and really well thought out and designed by Dale!!!
